The pedagogical activities offered by the 1859 Caixa Sabadell Foundation at its facilities have been endorsed by the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya since September 2015, when the Collaboration Agreement was signed between the Administration of the Generalitat de Catalunya, through the Department of Education, and the Foundation, for the development of educational projects.

Our pedagogical activities have also obtained the Quality Seal of the Pedagogical Innovation Council, an entity that was created in 1991 with the name of “Pedagogical Coordination Council” and that in 2017 decided to change it to the current one. The Council itself is promoted by the Municipal Institute of Education of Barcelona City Council (IMEB). The latter and the Department of Education Sciences of the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) endorse our pedagogical activities.

On the other hand, year after year, our pedagogical activities are supported by the City and School Program and are offered to all schools in Sabadell, which can come to carry out different activities of various themes. The City and School Programme is a programme of complementary activities aimed at schools. The programme is made up of a local educational network made up of 65 organisations, of which the 1859 Caixa Sabadell Foundation is part.

The Foundation's activities are also endorsed by the Vallès Occidental Regional Council and are published on its portal Aprèn al Vallès. We offer the realization of some of the school activities in the school itself.

Culture Space

In the Espai Cultura Fundació 1859 the schools will find a diversity of proposals linked to the architectural heritage of the Foundation, the content of the exhibitions, workshops on economics and entrepreneurship, calculation and mathematics, scientific and artistic content, and robotics workshops.

The pedagogical activities carried out in the Espai Cultura Fundació 1859 are supported by the Fundacó Barnola-Vallribera, Sant Josep, which grants grants to groups from schools classified as of maximum complexity and also those included in the Environment Plan.

Espacio Natura

The pedagogical activities that take place at the Espai Natura Fundació 1859 are programmed to publicize the traditional rural world, the farm, the Mediterranean forest and sustainability around the Masia de Can Deu.

The school activities of the Espai Cultura Fundació 1859 are designed for class groups, with a duration of between one and two hours, depending on the activity. Each activity is led by one or two educators who deal with the explanations and dynamization. Some of the activities have pre and post material, which will be sent to the teachers at the appropriate time.

Once the activity is done, teachers will be given an evaluation survey.For the 2023-2024 academic year, we continue to maintain activities in different thematic areas: modernist, mathematics, technology and robotics, audiovisual and multimedia, science, education in healthy values and habits, and artistic languages.

Noteworthy is the exhibition “The Science of Play”, inaugurated at the beginning of 2021 and of permanent format; around this exhibition are articulated a series of related workshops such as “Scientific inventions”, “The colors of light”, “Mechanical constructions with Lego” or “Technological gadgets”, among others.

Although the activities are carried out at Espai Cultura Fundació 1859, c/ d'en Font, number 25, Sabadell, we also offer the realization of some of our on-site activities in schools.

The activities aimed at schoolchildren are designed for groups of up to 30 students, with a duration of between two and two and a half hours. They will be offered throughout the school year, in the mornings from September to June during school hours. School activities will be adapted to the constraints of the Department of Education regarding the prevention of Covid-19. This course offers you a new educational resource: an interactive map where you can enjoy the videos we have prepared of our activities.

You can also find the individual videos on our channel Youtube. Each activity is led by a monitor who deals with the explanations and the animation.

At the end, the teacher is provided with an evaluation survey and a specific dossier that facilitates the work in the classroom a posteriori, to reinforce the contents learned. In addition, each circuit has specific material both for the theoretical part and the practical part that is carried out. In order to facilitate the consultation of the information, we have grouped the activities in five thematic areas: farm circuits, environmental circuits, monographic workshops, workshops on traditional festivals and workshops on sustainability. Schools that carry out an environmental circuit or a monographic workshop in the morning have the possibility of doing a complementary activity of knowledge of the farm in the afternoon.
